Who we are
Centered America is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit founded by Gen-Z leaders Gavin Faivre and Sharad Swaney with one simple idea: politics should bring people together, not drive them apart. What began as two friends sharing frustration over how fear and division had replaced genuine dialogue quickly grew into a movement rooted in empathy, creativity, and action. Through independent journalism, storytelling, and civic engagement, we work to reconnect Americans to each other and to the democratic values that make this country worth believing in.
But our work doesn’t stop with media. Centered America is also about creating impact you can see and feel. We raise funds through subscriptions, donations, and the sale of our merchandise to support care-package drives, community partnerships, and essential aid for disenfranchised and overlooked communities across the country. Every shirt, every bottle, every subscription helps fund resources for those who need them most, while advancing a message of hope, unity, and shared responsibility. Centered America isn’t just about reforming politics; it’s about rebuilding trust, helping people take action in their communities, and proving that real change starts when we show up for one another.
Our Mission
Our mission at Centered America is to build a more unified, democratic, and people-powered nation where every American, regardless of background or political label, can see themselves in the future we are creating together.
We exist to reconnect people to purpose, to rebuild faith in a government that serves everyone, and to fight extremism not with outrage, but with action, compassion, and truth.
At Centered America, our movement does not stop at messaging. It starts with meaningful impact. We raise funds through subscriptions to our publications and through the sale of Centered America merchandise. Those proceeds supply care packages, essential goods, and financial support to communities that have been overlooked and disenfranchised. Every product and every subscription helps fund real-world change, ensuring that our mission is not just spoken, but lived.
We train organizers, amplify underrepresented voices, and build local coalitions that challenge division with solidarity. We create media that informs rather than inflames, and we invest in the communities that have too often been left behind by both parties.
Our goal is simple but ambitious: to restore the belief that democracy can work for everyone, that unity does not require uniformity, and that hope is stronger than hate. Through independent journalism, advocacy, and tangible action, Centered America strives to make politics human again and remind every American that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
